There are lots of ways you can support Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens.
Visits, donations, membership, and volunteering, as well as bequests, sponsorship, and collaborative partnerships, all play an important role in helping us to run Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens and conserve its collections and archives.
Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens is cared for by the Irish Heritage Trust, which is a registered charity. This means that every contribution you make, from your admission fee to the price you pay for coffee and cake, is ploughed back into supporting conservation and public access to Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens, and our sister properties, collections, and museums across Ireland.
The simplest way to support Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens is to spend a wonderful day here!
- Experience the faded grandeur of the historic Fota House on a guided tour.
- Enjoy the natural beauty of our gardens and woodlands.
- And call in to our Bakestone Café and shop for delicious treats and thoughtful gifts.
Donations enable us to carry out the repairs and conservation work that Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens require. They also help us to share Irish heritage stories with people of all ages in Ireland and beyond.
Leave a Legacy that Honours
Donations made through legacies make a substantial difference to the work of the Irish Heritage Trust.
If you would like to leave a gift in your will to the Irish Heritage Trust and its work at Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens, you can choose to make a general bequest or dedicate your gift to a specific project. Your thoughtful legacy will help us honour the past and act as a gift to future generations too!
If you would like to contribute to Fota’s maintenance and conservation costs or play your part in supporting our education and community outreach work, we will ensure that your donation is put to good use.
The Irish Heritage Trust is a registered charity (Reg. no. 16848). That means all of our work to preserve and enhance Fota House and its environment is carried out on a non-profit basis, in consultation with heritage experts and the IHT Board.
You can choose to make a donation to a specific project or project type, or make a broader contribution to the valuable work we do to bring Ireland’s past to life for everyone’s education and enjoyment.

Support Green Learning
We already work with one local school here in East Cork to support hands-on and classroom-based learning about biodiversity and pollinators.
We would like to develop our curriculum-friendly learning modules further and make them available to more Cork schools. Your donation can help local children to engage with the natural world and start working towards a greener future.
Help Us Make Fota’s Victorian Glasshouses a Sustainability Hub
Thanks to our partnership with Apple Inc., we’ve been able to restore Fota’s glasshouses and begin sustainable food production in Fota’s Victorian Working Garden and its glittering glasshouses.
We would love to make the Victorian garden a hub for educational, volunteer, and visitor experiences that give people fun and practical experiences of gardening, biodiversity, and sustainable food production.
Help Restore Fota’s Art Collection to Its Former Glory
Since 2017, we have been working with art experts and painting conservators to restore Fota’s art collection, which is recognised as one of the foremost Irish collections outside the National Museum.
With your support, we can complete this important work, so that our paintings can be displayed for all to enjoy in the museum-accredited, authentic setting of Fota’s Regency mansion.
