Accessibility Guide

We offer a welcome to all at Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens and strive to make the house, gardens, and events as accessible to visitors as possible.

Is the house tour accessible?

The principal rooms and the servants’ wing are fully accessible.

Access to some rooms on the tour of the first floor are restricted due to architectural features we cannot alter. You can still tour our Nursery, Butler’s Bedroom & Maid’s Bedroom using the lift from the ground floor to the servants part of the first floor but we are happy to share information and stories on the Shamrock Room & Titled Guest Suite, should you be unable to visit them.

Ask at the Welcome Desk for more information about how we can help.

Assistance dogs are welcome in the house, grounds, shop, and café. During café opening hours water is provided for visiting dogs.

Garden Surfaces

The accessible entrance to the arboretum is located beside the house and avoids the steps. The path surfaces are fine gravel.

Please ask for directions or any other help at the Welcome Desk.
