The Irish Heritage Trust is a conservation charity set up to bring heritage to life for everyone to enjoy.

People are at the heart of everything we do and our mission is to make heritage properties dynamic, accessible and engaging. Our aim is to create opportunities for everyone to get involved with their heritage in any way that they choose. We believe this increased individual and community participation at special places brings them to life and helps protect and preserve them for future generations.

The Trust was created in July 2006, in partnership with Government, to provide a national alternative to public sector ownership of heritage properties and to explore and develop new ways of working to deliver greater public benefit from heritage properties at reduced cost to the exchequer.

Fota House, Arboretum & Gardens is our flagship project and after 7 years of hard work we have a thriving heritage property that demonstrates the ideas we have been pioneering. Fota is welcoming more and more visitors each year, is supported by dynamic volunteering and education programmes in addition to creating an important local economic hub that operates in a financially sustainable way.
