How to get to Fota Island

Fota Island by Road

Fota House (in county Cork, Ireland) is situated on Fota Island which is 10km east of Cork City. To get to Fota Island take the N25 east from Cork City for about 7km and then exit the N25 heading for Cobh/Carrigtwohill on the R624. Fota Island is about 2.5km on the right.

Fota Island by Rail

Fota Island has it's own train station and a regular train service. The train journey from Cork takes only fifteen minutes. The train connects to Inter-City trains to Dublin and train timetables can be found online on the Irish Rail website.

Fota Island from the Airport

If you are traveling from the airport, you can take the Jack Lynch tunnel to avoid the city centre and be on Fota Island in fifteen minutes.

Fota Island by Ferry

If you have arrived in Cork by ferry to Ringaskiddy you can shorten your route to Fota House considerably by taking the cross river ferry from Glenbrook to Carrigaloe (see map).
