Over the last couple of years, we have been dealing with a case of dry rot in the Library at Fota House, which unfortunately is very common in historic houses. We have worked to remove the contamination which involved a serious intervention of stripping back the room to bare brickwork to fully eradicate the rot. We are now letting the space breathe and settle before the restoration process begins. In the meantime, our visitors are welcome to learn about this fascinating process and see first-hand what is involved.
