Whether you’re a culture vulture, a school group or a family ready for an adventure, we have a learning experience for you.
We offer a range of informal learning options for adults and families. For gardeners there is the ‘Plant Hunters Tree Trail’ that leads visitors to some of the most remarkable trees at Fota and tells the story of how these were discovered and brought back to Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries.
If you have some intrepid junior plant hunters on your hands, why not try our ‘Little Explorers Tree Trail’ and ‘Junior Plant Hunter Trail’, booklets are available from Fota House Reception Desk for just €3 (plus €1 for a map). Alternatively, if you have a young family but would like to experience our house tour, why not try ‘Where is Mrs Kevin’s Cat?, designed to compliment the tour, it gives younger visitors things to look out for as they search for Toby, the housekeepers cat!
We are always looking for new ways to engage school groups at Fota. If you are a teacher looking for an innovative learning experience during a school trip, please contact us! We are happy to facilitate large groups, and to find ways of incorporating Junior Cert or Leaving Cert curriculum content in a range of subjects.
There is something to do here for everyone, every day!
