Fota House Summer Concert Series

Fota House Summer Concert Series

The third event in our summer programme has now been postponed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Ilse De Ziah’s cello recital will be rescheduled later in the season.

We look forward to welcoming Irish-Australian cellist and composer Ilse de Ziah to Fota later on in 2019. Regular Fota visitors will know Ilse as the conductor of the Cork Light Orchestra.

Using traditional Irish melodies as source material, Ilse creates contemporary arrangements perfectly suited for the cello. With the marriage of classical detail and folkloric tradition, this makes for a transcendent musical experience.

Please keep an eye here on our website and on our social media channels for news on when Ilse will return!

Summer is here and this year we are delighted to host lots of musical events here at Fota House all season.

We launched our summer music programme with Capella Lyrica on Sunday 12th May at 3pm…

Following on from a gorgeous winter concert last December, we were delighted to continue our collaboration with the Cork School of Music. Cappella Lyrica are an equal-voice award winning choir from the full-time Music, Pop and Drama programmes at the CIT Cork School of Music. We are hoping to host further dates with the Cork School of Music over the summer – watch this space for more info!

Second in our programme of music was Cork School of Music’s GUITAR PLUS Guitar Orchestra on Sunday 19th May.

This 10 piece ensemble delivered a fantastic array of styles, both classic and contemporary. They were joined by soloist Eddie Dooley, who is the current winner of the 2019 CITCSM Junior Recital Competition. We enjoyed the Lennon-McCartney classic Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Coldplay’s Viva La Vida, right through to Karl Jenkins, Bach and Gaspar Sanz!
