Fota House & Gardens welcomes Cappella Lyrica to our beautiful Drawing Room for our annual Christmas concert in December.
We are delighted to collaborate with this award winning choir for the first time, showcasing highly accomplished students from the full-time Music, Pop and Drama programmes at the CIT Cork School of Music.
Our annual Christmas music celebration at Fota House will include seasonal and traditional favourites for music lovers of all ages! We also look forward to solo and small group performances featuring traditional Irish instruments.
Cappella Lyrica has been successful in winning first place at both the Cork International and City of Derry International Choral Festivals and also at the Limerick Church Music Festival.
The Choir has established a relationship with new music by commissioning composers David Wallace, Marian Ingoldsby and Séan Doherty to write for the Choir. Cappella Lyrica regularly features compositions by established and emerging Irish composers in their programmes.
The concert will feature a premier performance of Epiphany, a work by Séan Doherty, specially commissioned by Cappella Lyrica in 2018.
The Choir are under the direction of Maria Judge and their rehearsal accompanist is Deirdre Long.
